Choosing the Right Celebrant

Joanne saunders

My name is Joanne Saunders and I qualified as a funeral celebrant in July 2017, yet there is no better qualification than life and experience.

After the passing of my dear dad it became the right thing to do after experiencing how families are not often given the very best for their loved ones final journey.

Every single person is unique and so no funeral ceremony should ever be the same. I write and deliver a bespoke ceremony from beginning to end for every families loved one that is tailored uniquely to them.

It could be a quiet short respectful ceremony or even a joyful, respectful celebration of life. The family always decide. In 2023-2024 I proudly won " Best celebrant UK" where I was awarded for all my dedication and hard work all voted by the families I have worked with. This I received with pride and continue my dads legacy every single day.

Hi, I’m Hannah Green, and I’ve been working with families as a celebrant for 8 years, leading over 1000 ceremonies in that time. What is right for one person may not be the best approach for another and I'm always happy to chat about ideas. My number is 07855 272241 .

Humanist funerals or memorials are usually centred on the life of the person who has died and the needs of those saying farewell. I'm happy to include traditional hymns or prayers and if you are thinking about readings, poetry or music we can work together to find the right thing. Sometimes I write and deliver the entire ceremony, and sometimes family members and friends want to speak themselves, or they write words for me to read on their behalf.

A bit about me: I grew up in Elstead, Surrey and attended the local C of E schools before taking A levels at Charterhouse and a degree in English Literature at Exeter University. I have four grown up children and in my spare time enjoy playing clarinet and piano, pilates, walking and seeing friends. I enjoy meeting people, and hearing their stories is fascinating, educational, and a privilege.

Hello. My name is Vicky and I am a Celebrant based in Chichester.

As your celebrant, I will support and guide you; ensuring that the balance of solemnity and happy memories is just as you would wish it to be. Working with you to create a clear picture of your loved one, my job is to tell their story so that it remembers them with dignity and warmth, and brings comfort to those in attendance.

With a background in theatre and journalism I have a broad knowledge of music, readings and poetry. If required, I can help you to choose pieces that feel like the perfect fit.

Whether a big and colourful celebration of life or a quiet and reflective send-off, you can be sure of a unique ceremony that is written to respect and reflect your loved one’s life, loves and beliefs.

Karen nash celebrant sq

Hello, I’m Karen and I am an independent celebrant and truly love what I do.

I have a passion for life and love talking to people, it really is a privilege for me to be invited into your home to talk about you, your family and loved ones and not forgetting those special pets.

When I’m not dressed up and wearing heels, I can be found in lycra on my bike either on the road or racing around the historic Goodwood motor circuit. I also cycle on behalf of 'Samuel's Charity' and have entered and successfully completed the iconic Ride London and London to Paris cycle ride raising money for such a fantastic cause.

I also love walking my gorgeous cocker spaniel ‘Olly’ in the glorious Sussex countryside or on the beach. I enjoy sailing and paddle boarding, in fact anything outdoors.

I am a good listener, very organised, and a true perfectionist, so I can ensure that your day whether a funeral or a wedding will be very special.
